Is it just me? Subject: Paper Money

This will be the first in a series of posts titled "Is it just me?"

Is it just me... or does the following pet peeve annoy others as well?

Scenario: You've just handed the cashier a crisp, clean, new $20 bill and he/she proceeds to give you your change back which is made up of the oldest, most crumpled up, ripped, disgusting looking bills.

Commentary: Here's the problem as I see it. The more of these bills that cashiers everywhere hand back to customers as change, the longer it takes for these old bills to be replaced by new ones... something the U.S. Department of the Treasury does daily and banks provide the bulk of the bills for them to do so. Old bills cannot be replaced as efficiently if they are constantly being handed to customers like hot potatoes.

Please, if you are a cashier or know someone who is, stop this practice of giving the worst bills to customers. Those of us who hand you brand new bills find it annoying and unfair!

Off my soapbox...for now.
