Text Messaging While Driving

On today's edition of NBC's South Florida Today show, one of the occasional hosts admitted that she recently rear-ended a car as a result of text messaging a co-worker while driving. I know people do many things they shouldn't while driving, but really... text messaging?!

Part of what surprised me while watching her admit to this is the way she ended up treating the incident as if it was a no-big-deal, "oops" sort of event and even gave a sort of giggle at the end. She mentioned about how she just looked up and there it [the car] was. She's lucky the only thing she hit was a car and not a pedestrian. She wouldn't be laughing then.

No, she probably would be lying and getting an attorney. Or do those go together? Hmmmmm.

What's the difference between a lawyer and a liar? The pronunciation.

This one I made up and I could see a sleazy ambulance-chaser using it as an advertising slogan:
"On a gurney? Think attorney!"

i did it once, but this is the first time i admit it happened to due to text messaging. I did have a witness that said that the car cut me off and slammed on his brakes to make a hard right, but who knows what would have happened had i been paying better attention? Yeah, stupid - almost 2 years ago and have never done it again.
